The Atomic Bomb was first used during war in August 1945, against Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan. This bomb played a huge role in ending World War II.
The Atomic Bomb is a weapon of mass destruction that was built/developed in the U.S during a 6 year period from 1939-1945. The Manhattan Project (project to build the "atomic bomb," which started just before World War II) was run by Robert Oppenheimer, the project had spent around $2 billion dollars. It was tested on July 6th 1945, and was a "success." Shortly after the U.S decided to drop the bomb on Japan. The first target was Hiroshima, which caused deaths of about 66,000 people and injured 69,000 people on August 6, 1945. Three days later the second bomb was dropped on Nagaski which caused 39,000 people to die and 25,000 people injured. On August 10, 1945 Japan offered to surrender.
